The Society's Last Meeting
Saturday 12th April in Birmingham.
We started with a presentation on scientific slides, showing good examples of most of the main types of slide.
Next two of our members showed two series of hand painted long slides. The first series was a set of massive slides of the siege of Delhi. They then went on to a set of contemporary slides of the coronation of George IV. This was a very interesting and complete set of slides which showed the processions, the coronation and the processions afterwards.
After lunch two members had a competition to see who could show the funniest slides. It was generally considered to be a draw, with both of them showing equally amusing slides.
We ended the meeting with a long bring and show, which started with desert island slides, where members brought the slide that they would take to a desert island, and went on with the general bring and show
As usual we had a successful market during the day, and most of the important work of the meeting was done at lunchtime in the local places of refreshment!
