A Typical Newsletter

The Magic Lantern Society started to publish the Newsletter in 1980.

It is a less scholarly publication than the Society Journal but fulfills the need felt by many for a vehicle for informal communication between members. The Newsletter is copiously illustrated, and carries reports on recent and forthcoming member shows and special events, together with items of general interest, amusing and/or thought provoking lantern-related ephemera, cartoons, and a lively correspondence.

Newsletter 69 - has articles on the Society's recent visit to the Museum of Cinema in Girona, the Visual Delights Conference in Sheffield and news of an up and coming, major exhibition of optical wonders in Cologne.

Newsletter 70 - has details of the Society's trip to the Werner Nekes exhibition in Cologne, recent member activities and some curious 20th century lantern phenomena.

Issues are distributed free to members.

The Newsletter is edited by Robert MacDonald.
