A Magic Lantern

Wilhelm Busch - The Farmer and The Windmiller or The Miller and the Donkey

This is a modern reading for The Farmer and The Windmiller or The Miller and the Donkey.

The eight captions fit the standard eight slide set.

1. Daniel and his donkey

are the subjects of this tale,

here's Daniel and his donkey

which he's tethered to a sail.

2. The Miller's day's been rather dull

so it's time to have some fun,

let's see what happens to the beast

if we let the mill race run.

3. Daniel loves his donkey

so a rescue he must try,

but he is no match for the wind today

and man and donkey fly.

4. The Miller is enjoying the show

so lets his engine loose,

Daniel watches from afar

as the tether becomes a noose.

5. Daniel's donkey is no more

he's plodded his last mile,

but the Miller has had some fun

his day has been worthwhile.

6. Alas Dan's problems multiply

when his home comes into sight,

then his wife suggests a cunning plan

to put this wrong to right.

7. As she helps him on his way

with a wicked sneer she says

"this saw might help the miller,

to see the error of his ways".

8. The miller's day is a lot less fun

when Daniel and the Miller meet,

but Daniel smiles as he walks away

Oh yes ..... revenge is sweet!
